BRETT HUNT
FOR
MADISON

About me:

My name is Brett Hunt and I am running for the Madison Elementary School District Governing Board. I am a Madison parent, army veteran and native Arizonan. My wife and I have been raising our kids in the district for the last 16 years.

Madison schools are among the very best in the state and I am running to help us maintain that status. I want Madison to continue being an anchor and a point of pride for our community. We must continue to attract and retain the very best teachers and staff and maintain the specialized programs like International Baccalaureate, REACH, dual language immersion and others that make our district so unique.

I believe that everyone has a right to an excellent public education. That right is what underpins the civic health of our communities and the competitiveness of our economy. I come from a family of educators, my parents taught high school and junior high in Globe and San Carlos for over three decades each. My sister is a career high school teacher and I am a professor of practice at Arizona State University.

I started my career in the federal government as an army captain and diplomat in Mexico. I speak fluent Spanish and am the founding Executive Director of the first Public Service Academy in the country at Arizona State University. In addition to teaching at ASU I lead a national network of universities focused on educating the next generation of public service leaders to serve our community and country.

In the community I am engaged in causes that benefit veterans and I have coached many RAMMS teams over the years.  I hope to see you in the neighborhood as I seek your signature on my petitions. I hope we can have a conversation and I can earn your vote in November.
